Conference Overview

Litigation can be one of the most strategically important business issues facing today's corporate decision makers. Litigation presents risks and rewards on a scale unimaginable even a few years ago.

For the second year in a row we are proud to present "The Litigation Summit: The Business and Art of Litigation." Join your peers as we look as some of today's hottest issues including risk management, shareholder issues, the impact of media, the challenge of international dispute resolution and a host of other issues.

Last year's Litigation Summit included participants from some of the world's largest and most recognizable companies including Baxter International Inc., Bristol-Myers Squibb, Exelon Corporation, General Mills, Inc., CBS Broadcasting Inc., Microsoft Corporation, Olin Corporation, Harrah's Entertainment, Air Canada, Northrop Grumman Corporation and Viacom Inc.

This year's event will explore not only how general counsel and their outside advisors can employ state of the art business tactics to minimize the costs associated with litigation, but also how they can be pro-active in preventing litigation in the first place.

We have added an international dimension – many times litigation is multi-jurisdictional.  In a number of the sessions, our expert faculty will examine the subject matter from many points of view, not just from the US perspective.

Enterprise Risk Management is a new topic this year.  We will engage risk management professionals from the boardroom to the classroom to look at current issues in ERM.

Key topics include:

  • Regulation, Reform and Recognition: Our World has Changed
  • Budgeting and Pricing: Effective Partnerships between Corporate Counsel and Their Go-To Firms
  • Shareholder Litigation: Your Board, Your Company, Investor Relations and the Impact of the Outcome
  • The Rapidly Evolving Role of Social Media in Discovery and Litigation
  • Enterprise Risk Management
  • FCPA: Looking at the US from the Prism of Other Countries
  • Litigation Without Borders: International Dispute Resolution

Plan now to join your peers from around the country at this interactive and thought-provoking event addressing the business issues surrounding litigation management.

This event is presented by The American Lawyer, The National Law Journal and Corporate Counsel magazine and our conference Chair, Craig C. Martin of Jenner & Block.
